Last Ski of the Season

TOP: As the day wore on, the snowpack turned to skating rink, and then to dirt road. It's REALLY hard to ski a dirt road...
2nd:Peter invented yoga-ski; the combination of XC skiing and contorting yourself into bizarre positions every time he fell
3rd: Swen and Eric looking for the sign to Sveden

Well, in what will probably be our last XC ski trip of the season, Peter, Koz, and I do another leg of the Erie Canal; this time from holley to albion. The day started nicely...mid 20's, and a decent snowpack layer on the canal trail. After about an hour though conditions turned south in a big way. The snowpack became icepack, and we were more skating than skiing. Peter fell hard twice, once it took us about 20 minutes to untangle him.

Then, the headwinds kicked up to about 25mph. We could barely make forward progress. We arrived in Albion hours later, totally exhausted, sore, and dehydrated (as we had all run out of water along route).

That's it for this season, and next year we'll resume our quest to "Counquer the Canal" via XC ski.
