We finished up with Munich, and boarded the evening train to Prague, (Czech Republic...formerly Czechoslovakia for those geographically challenged).
x
There are 5 people in our train car...Kathy and I, a woman directly in front of us, and an older couple directly in front of her (nobody every heard of spreading out in Europe I guess
x
The older couple turns to the lady in front of us and asks her if she is a local...she is. They ask if she would assist them in getting a cab to their hotel upon arrival, as we are getting in about midnight, and the train station is not in the greatest section of Prague. After chatting for a bit, they go through the "where are you from" bit...the older couple says that they're from New York. A bit more conversation, and turns out they're from Rochester.
x
I just have to go introduce myself at this point. Turns out that she is a relatively famous singer, and lives just a few miles from us.
x
So, what are the chances of that....4,000 miles away, 5 people on a train, and 4 of them are from Rochester!
x
So, to cap off the evening, we exit the train, and there is coincidently a limo with the driver holding up a sign for our hotel. We go over, and impress upon him how excellent it would be if he drove us there also along with whoever he is supposed to pick up. Turns out who he is picking up is a 6'5", brutally loud, major-league Type A, gay guy from Dallas, Tx. We spend the whole ride hearing about how his significant other is mad at him for taking extra time in Prague to go see the crystal works.
x
We settle in to Prague, not knowing what will await us in the city tomorrow.
